About the Groom

Billy was born William Michael Koehler on December 3rd, 1982 in Baltimore, MD.  Growing up in a small family, Billy lived in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Ohio (twice) before finally settling in Georgia at the age of 12.  At an early age, Billy’s love for sports drove him to cross-train in baseball and football for most of his life.  Billy would later attend Chattahoochee High School where he participated in varsity football, varsity baseball, and the National Honors Society.

Prior to graduation, Billy was offered a “preferred walk-on” role for the University of Georgia varsity football team.  Billy could not refuse the offer and chose to attend UGA in beautiful Athens, GA.  With his family’s roots in the Information Technology industry, Billy chose to study Management Information Systems where he would earn his B.B.A from the Terry College of Business.  Billy graduated UGA as a member of the Pi Kappa Phi social fraternity, Letterman for the Bulldog football team, and participating musician for a gigging band based out of South Georgia.

After college, Billy would work at a small start-up software company concentrated in the home building industry.  Although he continued to play bass guitar on the weekends, Billy’s desire to remain active spurned a major weight loss of 80 pounds.  His recent weight loss inspired him to socialize more and join a kickball league where he met a VERY special lady 😉

Today, Billy works in I.T. at Chick-fil-A’s Corporate Headquarters.  He enjoys playing bass guitar, racquetball, and wallyball.  He loves attending sports events and dinner dates with his fiance, Blyth.
